Bernaqua

At the Bernaqua adventure, fitness, and wellness center in Switzerland, one of the first large-scale projects following the official launch of BLE.Connect was successfully implemented. The goal was to integrate battery-powered locker locks into the eLoxx Relaxx system and make key information such as lock status, alerts, and usage data  available in real time, all without adding any additional wiring inside the lockers.

Bernaqua is one of the largest water and wellness facilities in Switzerland. Covering around 2,000 m² of pools and slides, it offers a wide range of recreational activities for several thousand visitors every day. The facility also includes a dedicated fitness area with its own locker systems.

  • 1,364 ECO.Lock NW F/ISO locks
  • 6 GC7.2000 M + 1 GC7.2000 M lite controllers

“With BLE.Connect, we were able to seamlessly connect our locker infrastructure and gain full visibility into usage, lock status, and maintenance needs — all with minimal installation effort.”

THE CHALLENGE

The main challenge was ensuring stable and reliable wireless communication within a complex building structure. At the same time, the installation needed to be as non-invasive as possible, with no additional wiring required inside the lockers. Another key requirement was guaranteeing that the locker locks would continue to operate reliably even in the event of potential network or software disruptions.

SOLUTION

By using BLE.Connect, the battery-powered locker locks were connected to the access points via encrypted BLE communication. Controllers and access points were centrally installed in the suspended ceiling. Careful planning of mounting positions, combined with step-by-step optimization of wireless coverage, ensured stable operation. At the same time, the locks remained fully functional even during temporary system interruptions, as the battery-powered components continue operating independently.

KEY BENEFITS

  • Central overview of lock status, alerts, and usage data in real time
  • Minimal-invasive installation with no additional wiring inside lockers
  • High operational reliability thanks to autonomous, battery-powered locks
  • Easy retrofitting of existing locker systems
  • Scalable infrastructure for large and complex facilities
