Ian Thorpe Pool
Ian Thorpe Pool
Sydney, AustraliaNamed in honor of five times Gold Medal winning champion Ian Thorpe, this landmark $40 million facility is the recent winner of “The Australian Health & Fitness Industry Quality Awards”. At the Ian Thorpe Pool, a range of health and aquatic services from swimming lessons to personal training and school programs are offered to cater to the diverse ages, interests and abilities of its surrounding communities.
Visitors gain entry through turnstiles, controlled by the new GAT Access 6600, capable of rapidly reading NFC wristbands, mobile phones, as well as bar and QR codes. Visitors may also use NFC wristbands to use lockers, secured by an on-line, networked locking system from GANTNER. At all times, pool operators have an overview of the status of lockers and the system’s networked alarm provides the ultimate security. If a visitor loses their wristband, or if lockers must be cleaned, all lockers can be remotely opened via GANTNER’s locker management software. Ian Thorpe Pool’s decision to invest in NFC technology has translated to improved security and streamlined processes.
